Default 1986 340 1.4

Time has come. A few of you may have seen my last thread where I said I would be selling it when my Justy is fixed. Since then however I have seen a couple others sell at close to what I was asking last time, in a lot worse condition than mine. I think £750 ONO may be more suitable now. Not sure, offer between £600 and £900 and I will consider it. Anyway, the car;

It's a 1986 Volvo 340 1.4. It has just over 66600 miles on it but this will go up as it is still my daily runaround until it is gone. Tax until August 2012, and MOT until June. It has full service history, stamped to 2010 but I think it was serviced last year too by the owner and only 2 previous keepers. The first owned the car from new to 2010, and kept it garaged which is obviously why it is in near mint condition 26 years after it was bought. He took it to the same garage for around 20 years, so i'm sure for extra confidence in the car they would happily give you any additional information.

The 2nd owner was the daughter of a Volvo enthusiast and used it as her commuting car. Racking up over 15000 miles in 18 months, it made quite a few trips to London and back without any problems in her ownership and it was maintained to a high standard due to the father being the enthusiast. And then I found it after searching for a few weeks. I haven't used it much, only commuting to and from work really while my other car was off the road. I think it a very characterful motor and I do like driving it, albeit a bit gutless at cruising speed, but I have nowhere to store it and I don't have a need for it now. It needs to be garaged really to keep it in it's condition.
The underside has never been welded and is thoroughly original with the factory underseal and overspray still evident.

It runs like a dream. I have done a few journeys to Bristol and as a cruising car it is fabulous. I really don't want to lose it, but I haven't got space or facilities to keep it in this wonderful condition.

It does have a couple bad points though which is expected.
It needs tracking.
It needs new blades on the headlight wipers, but they do work along with the washers.
It has a very small oil leak which I only noticed when I went under the car. It hasn't been enough to drip onto the road yet.
It has a knock when driving which I believe is coming from the rear shock absorbers. The bushes are perished so it could do with rear shocks, unless you can get the bushes separate.
The main issue is the bodywork.
It has a dent on the nearside rear arch which also leads onto the rear door. I have pictured it. This would be a small job for someone with the facilities and know how.
The offside I guess has had a bit of paintwork before but I have no proof. It may just have been in the sun on one side overtime. It is still a great finish, although it has faded pink like old cars do. This has gone beyond a quick polish up so would probably need spraying. I'm no expert though.
There is also a small hole in the front bumper but this doesn't affect the paintwork.
It could also do with a new spare wheel. The rim has suffered a knock previously.

Inside is pretty mint too with the original Volvo smell, but still has a few issues.
Starting with the drivers seat, it has a very small hole in the base and I imagine it's the frame that has started to lift inside the seat. It's evident through the cloth but it doesn't affect comfort.
The radio only works on one side. The offside rear door is missing its handle surround inside.
And finally, the heater adjuster for the direction is a bit dodgy. It springs back if you try to slide it across. The heater still works perfectly though.

Overall I think this is a great car. It is completely original including the MW stereo so no radio 1 unfortunately . I reckon it needs a very small amount spending on it to be not far off concourse. The pictures do not do it justice, mainly because they are off my phone so I am sorry for quality but this does have to be seen to be appreciated. Also I haven't had the chance to polish or hoover the car because of our brilliant British weather and a full time job, but if it holds off then I will try to do it sometime soon. It will be hard to find another in this condition so grab it while it's available.
I will be happy to arrange viewings and help out with any information you would like.
Thanks for looking.

I'll make a quick adjustment.
The MOT actually runs to July, not June and the tracking has been carried out but it still pulls to the left very slightly. I have had new information from a member that viewed it today saying that it's what they do.
