Question ViDA - installation problems

Hello Volvothusiasts.
Just have a generic question regarding vida software installation. Question is directed to people who have vida installed on they comps. Problem arised when downloaded "vida 2010d" and "vida 2011a". after downloading software and unzipping it install wizzards starts his job.Asks for install type and language pick. After computer check states that one or couple of windows components does not meet vida requirements and after that just aborts whole action. I have samsung s3511 with win7 and decent hardware. inc 650 gig hard drive. Maybe it's only works with old winXP?
Thanks in advance.

I think you are right , it also has to be win XP Pro . Win 7 compatibility came sometime early in 2011 i think .

How many GB of RAM have you got?

You could try right clicking on the install.exe file and go to properties, click on compatablility tab, ttake drop down list and choose Win XP and checkmark t run as administrator. This may or may not work.

I have VIDA 2011a and it works fine on Win7 Enterprise.

The PC requirements are 2GB RAM, WinXP Pro, SP3 and IE8. With those software components, it installs and works. Some people have got it to work with Win7 Pro but if you have XP you may as well install it. You'll need SATA support as XP doesn't have native SATA drivers.

Good enough spec there so that's not your problem.

Those with Win 7 that wish to keep Win7. There are various flavours of Virtual machine available to run Win XP on your current systems, you can install Virtual PC, Vitual Box, VM Ware and for certain versions of Win7 there is also an 'XP Mode'.

It sounds a little technical but is really pretty easy to get a virtual machine up and running, you do however need a copy of WinXP as you install it into your current computer running a virtual window (machine).

To run virtual machines comfortably then your computer needs to be fairy new so you can allocate enough resources for it to handle vida once you've installed XP. Although there is a file that can be edited to tell VIDA not to check for 2GB of free RAM.

I'm running it on Windows 7Pro on a 32 bit machine (will not run on 64bit) with 4 gig RAM (only uses 3 gig Ram), plenty of HDD and Internet Exploror 8, (it will not run on iE9) I don't think you need virtual machines, it doesn't like 64 bit systems.
My version is 2011A and would love 2011D or 2012A.
