Popping noise on idle

I was sitting in my 2012 V60 D5 Geartronic (just hit 66k) this evening with the engine running and the passenger window open. I'd left my foot on the brake pedal after starting. A few minutes had passed and I took my foot off the brake pedal, when this happened there was a popping noise from the left hand side of the engine bay. Foot back on brake, the noise went, off the brake and it's back. I then raised the revs, the noise stops, back to idle and it's back intermittently now. In terms of the nose it seems like an induction/air nose ( if that makes sense)

Anyone have any idea what this may be before I take it back to where I bought it from in the morning?
