Hi folks

Another one having this issue! Have had steadily worsening problems starting from cold for several years now...

Cleaned out the throttle body and sensors, chamfered the edges of the butterfly valve (throttle flap) that touch the throttle body bore when closed and it seemed to improve but that might have been wishful thinking lol.

I have loads of air bubbles in my clear fuel lines so I am about to replace the fuel filter housing and any o rings I can find so I will report if this fixes it!

The glow plug error code I think is a red herring - I was advised by a local mobile auto electrician man that this is due to the battery voltage getting to low due to too much cranking.

Shout out to all the otherwise happy V50 owners out there, I still love mine =)

Default V50 2.0d Starting problems

Ah ....Right then ...
Puzzling problem isn,t it ? ..
I had a nightmare trying to find this problem...
Cutting a very long story short , i fitted a original part EGR after the old one failed .
After fitting i had an occassional starting problem , usually after being left overnight .
Cutting to the chase i eventually took it to Volvo to take a look ..It needed s software update ( £144 ) because the "brain"of the car thought that it still had a faulty part and was sending the wrong signals to the engine to svoid damage .
So ...if you have a starting problem and you have had an engine part fitted at some point , get a software update ..
Sorted ..
.
