Default C30 Ignition switch

Hello - I had the 'key error' message (both keys)

I followed the advise, lock unlock 5x, hitting key etc and car wouldn't start
at all - just the error message

doors lock and unlock etc ok

so I changed the ignition switch (genuine new volvo part)

thought I would test it before reassembling - and now there is nothing on the dash at all with either ign switch fitted !!!
does it need reassembling for some other elec connection

I didn't think, stereo, centre panel etc would affect the ignition ????

car is dead - doors still lock - lights work. etc. but dash is blank

Any help appreciated - before I get it towed to volvo

thankyou

Hi
When I did mine I fully reassembled before testing.(V50)
Did you disconnect the battery before starting?
As it all works on a can bus system there is a good probability you might need everything plugged back in before it will work.
There is also a possibility you might have generated some faults by powering up with stuff un plugged.
I would be tempted to disconnect the battery, reassemble everything, reconnect the battery and check again.

Cheers

Going to reassemble it all tomorrow in daylight.

3 hours getting it all undone last night was a real pain. Then when it wouldn't start I was gutted.

Thanks
David
