Abs module
The anti skid warning light came on a few weeks ago, and was told that it was a faulty ABS module, so purchased a second hand one of the right model number, but garage has fitted but says needs coded to the car, and they or the auto electrician they used, doesn't have the equipment to do it and that it would have to go to Volvo to get a new one fitted and coded. My question is, as this is a known fault with Volvo, are they duty bound to fix it, or am I going to be left to foot the bill ? Also, can the second hand one be coded to the car and does it have to Volvo that does it, or can a specialist do it if they have the right equipment, what is the right equipment ? My car is a 57 C30 2.4 D5, and located in Fife Scotland
Many Thanks.

Hi
ABS module (known as BCM) has to be coded top car, that is true. Unfortunately you need dealership to do it unless you find a garage with volvo-dedicated hardware and subscription to Volvo servers (software package needs to be downloaded). I am not sure if dealership can/will code used BCM to your car or will claim it must be a brand new ($$$) unit. Someone may confirm/deny it.
