Default bulbs

Do a search of the forum and you will find some citizen has posted a step by step instruct on how this is done...I too need to replace all three bulbs in the ecc unit but havent as yet....

When I do eventually replace the bulbs I will only use volvo-bulbs....expensive but not interested in cheaper bulbs that could fail in an un-handy position deep in the dash...in the states the bulbs hover around $8 per.

It's not very difficult - you just need to use a little care.

The ECC control panel has to come off: exactly how differs between Ph 1 and Ph 2 - do you know which yours is? 2000 ought to be Ph 2 I think - are the knobs just round and are there six switches/blanks across the ECC panel? If so the front panel just CAREFULLY prises off by levering GENTLY at each corner.

Once removed you can see the screws holding the ECC control unit in place. Release that and take it out and you can access the bulbs - they come complete in holders, and have blue covers on them so they show the correct greenish light.

And yes, if you are going to do it, I would certainly buy the genuine bulbs - they're not cheap but should do the job on a long term basis!

Hi David, Its the Ph 1, I will be doing it myself (hopfully). Just called Volvo and the bulbs are £3.28 ech also asked how much it would be for them to replace them.... dont think i'll be doing that £160!
