Question Message in display about Engine System

Hi All

This is my first post, so if something is wrong I apologise. I have a lovely S60 with the D5 185BHP on an 06 plate which we have had for 3 years now, but we now have on the display "Engine System Sevice Required" which does go off on long journeys, but soon returns. The engine always runs and goes perfectly, any ideas on how to delete this message, or should we get something done about it, or can I get rid of it. The engine is on very low miles
just 29K only, and my wife does alot of short journeys.

Look forward to any replys

Martyn,

I had this message on a 2007 V50 D5 after the recall and software updates relating to oil levels (mid-2008, I think). It was sorted out by the dealer and then happened again after the next service when the independent garage put slightly too much oil in. Assuming that your car was recalled at the time (?), if it has been serviced recently, it could be just that the oil level is marginally too high. In that case having a small amount drained and the message reset may solve the problem. If it persists (or if the car was never recalled) it would be worth having it checked by a Volvo dealer.

There are various threads relating to oil levels and software issues on this forum.
