Default Tyre pressure loss

Hello

I have a 2001 S60 2.0 with the T5 alloys and I'm losing tyre pressure.

It's working out to a couple of PSI a day, to the two front wheels and the rear nearside. Rear offside holds pressure fine.

I had the front nearside tyre replaced about 6 months ago and it was OK for a while but now back to how it was before.

Any ideas?

The car is 8 years old(from the description). Alloy does not last forever. Time for a refurb I think....

Brush some washing-up liquid and water round the rims, the valves and valve seats and see if there are any bubbles. This is better done with the wheels off the car, lying horizontal, so the liquid puddles between the tyre and the rim.

Could be porous alloys.
Have tubes fitted

Unlikely, Volvo alloys suffer from corrosion on the rims tyre bead seat. Wheel re-conn probably needed. You can keep costs down by only doing the rim section where the rim meets the tyre.

Had the same thing on my old Xantia.
Had the tyres taken off, the bead scrubbed with a wire drill bit (there is a better name I'm sure, but I can't think of it just now!), then repainted the bleeders 'round the inside! I think it was just Smoothrite, but I could be wrong.
All fine from then on. It usually has leaks through pourous coating around the bead as your route cause. Nothing drastic too it. Just age/wear n tear mate.

Thanks for your helpful replies. I guess the age of the alloys and the awful potholed roads around where I live have contributed to the problem.

I'll enquire as to getting them refurbished.

I've Googled and found a couple of places, but can anyone recommend anywhere in Sussex to do a good job?

Thanks again, Chris.

I had this problem on two tyres on our 2001 V70 - the tyres were quite old and replacing them has solved the problem. It might be worth checking if your newish tyre has a slow puncture or a leaky valve - I had both of these fixed in the old tyres.

Have the same problem myself. Three out of 4 wheels losing pressure. Don't know what to so. This thread looks similar.

What is the best way to get around this? New allows? Refurb? Tubes?

I thought about getting my wheels done. But the way my wife (and me if honest) hits kerbs it would be a waste of time.

Came accross this advert on ebay.

Don't know if anyone on the forum has used them yet?
But I did consider using them as it offered a few advantages to me.
Get to see the quality before fitting.
Car only off the road for as long as it takes to fit tyres.
