Well the one I received leaked like a sieve out of the cross-threaded drain bung - and bizarrely had a different one to the existing one.
Lots of expletives, cigarettes and arse scratching ensued...
Out with the "new" and back in with the "old" with a good load of teflon tape around the cracked top port.
Upon examination, it wasn't cracked at the bottom as I first thought, just leaking from the top hose port and running down the plastic shroud and dripping from the bottom.

Did everything back up, filled with coolant (again!).
Drove 1200 miles to France and back with 28*C ambient temps, and it hasn't moved an inch off the "max" mark in the expansion tank.

How long the "old" rad will last - who knows - at least it's sorted

Fingers crossed! Might pay to trim back the end of the top hose to get rid of the perished section as it sounds as if it has perished slightly which caused your leak originally.
Or renew the top hose............

With advice from my dad I did just that, there’s enough “slack” to take a good 1/4 inch off of it.
Ideally will be changed soon - especially if I make real my plans to add a blower to the 6 pot
