Default V50 boot/tailgate micro switch help

Hello and greetings! New member here. Not long bought a 2007 v50 2.0l diesel, loving the car. However...

Now the boot won't open! Read about the micro switch, took the "handle" off the boot to check it. Took the rubber off from the handle, switch still clicks and contacts have been cleaned, still no joy.

I should add it's an intermittent fault but seems to be getting worse. If it is the switch, how do you separate it from the "handle"? Found the switch part on eBay for £17.

Thanks for reading! /helping. Wife not happy!

It is more likely to be the loom cracked up where it flexes , However the microswitch is part of the handle/number plate light assembly . about £20 from the dealer , a bargain really !

Thanks for reply. I guess what I am asking is how do I remove the assembly from the piece of plastic (silver in my case) with VOLVO lettering on it? Took the whole piece out, couldn't work out how to remove the black assembly without breaking something. Will also check the wiring first!

cant remember ,it has been a couple of years since I changed one .. There are a few stainless steel screws under the shroud which hold the assembly to the tailgate .. If you get the black light / and switch assembly it should be self evident how it fits .

I just had the same issue with my S40 - had to fiddle with loom from within the boot to get it open, checked microswitch and looked fine - repaired a snapped wire in flex part and the reg lights came on.....however, could not get the boot open again.

Bought a full wiring loom for £52 on ebay but had to disconnect the existing loom from inside the boot and connect the new one just to get it open...then removed the old and replaced with new...works great now

That's expensive, the last one I bough from volvo a year or two ago was thirty something pounds.
