Why not just get a 940 turbo?

I second the suggestion of the S60R but I do hear they can be expensive to maintain (despite this I plan to get one anyway lol)
I would also recommend an S60 T5. 250 bhp as standard (or 260 for the 04+ facelift version) and a stage 1 map will take you to 300 bhp. Fuel consumption isn't bad on the T5 for what it is in my opinion, but they are so much fun to drive it's not really a consideration for me anyway.

whatever you get, NEVER buy a P2R. theyre absolute money pits.

Liners crack under stock power - expensive job resulting in repairing the block or replacing with the 2.4 T5 engine.
steering racks burst
PS pumps shear pulleys
angle gear splines strip creating a 300bhp FWD - can be up to £1500 to fix in just parts if it kills the angle gear too
4C shocks are only good for the first 30k of use, after that they crash all over the road on the smallest of bumps/holes

If i was you id put a 16t turbo off any T5 onto your T4 - direct bolt on swap for the 14T its running and remap it. youll be closer to 300bhp than 200bhp after that and you get to keep the cracking handling the T4s have

and if you wanna push its driveability, put a Gripper LSD in the box.

There's a manual s60 t5 with black leather for 800 on autotrader. it'd be criminal not to buy it.

It's a P1 so actually, he can mod the turbo all he likes but he'll still be running 200bhp as the ECU's on the P1 is not the same Siemens EMS 2000 used on the P2 that CAN be mapped.

Many have tried and thrown huge amounts of money at the P1 and give up later down the line, it's got a very locked down ECU and no developers supporting it.

If you want to map the T4, you'll be spending around £1000 on a standalone ECU and paying someone a fortune to be willing to do the work.

I'd get a S40/V50 T5 next, loads of upgrade potential and pretty quick in standard form.

My Stage 3 S60 BSR 2.0t wouldnt have seen which way my noobtuned 9-5 had gone in a straight line.

80 quid for 300hp 440nm torque, plus 300 quid for a downpipe.

If you haven't tried a Saab I'd give it a go, good build quality, comfy seats and not bad on fuel at a cruise.

S60 Is a different league in handling and bump absorption, and in road noise but if you want to go quick cheaply, a 9-5 Is a good shout.

I wouldn't have changes if we hadn't had a baby and moved somewhere where I needed more ground clearance.

I suggested that earlier - my last Saab was a stage 3+ Aero estate. Fabulously entertaining thing. I don’t think the input was appreciated.
