I had a few basic wants and don't wants and stuck to it. I didn't want an Active because of the interior ( leather was a must for me ) and I wasn't prepared to buy a Black one as it's a colour that I don't like . In addition I didn't want a light leather as the drivers seat always looked very tired (which is strange because the oak leather in my S60 was in lovely condition ) so it had to be black leather. I wanted a facelift model so that I got the uprated angle gear which seems to be less bother . Gearbox wise I was prepared to take a manual or geartronic but other than that I wasn't bothered about sat nav or DVD players . As it turns out I bought a 2007 XC90 D5 Geartronic in Willow Green ( Love it ) with Black leather.

I bought the first XC90 I viewed. I was well aware there would be faults with it at 8 years old, but with only one owner and full Volvo history and serviced every year I knew there was a good chance that it hadn't been abused.
On my second day of ownership the faults started to appear and it took the dealer a bit of persuading before he would do the repairs, I could have rejected the car and walked away but I knew that once sorted there was a lovely car so I persevered and eventually got 'most' of the problems sorted. There were a couple of issues I repaired myself and took the broken parts back and demanded a refund for parts which I duly received. It's still not perfect, but I'm slowly working through the repairs, last week was front discs & pads, this weekend will be rear discs, pads and handbrake shoes, then Haldex service, It will need an air-con condenser at some time in the near future also diff and angle gear oil changed and then I'll be happy Sometimes when you get a good feeling about something you've just got to go with your gut and take the plunge

Looks very nice indeed, and yes I agree with your comments. If you don't mind me asking What was the deciding factor to go with the manual?

Been driving automatics for the past 25 years so decided a manual would be a nice change and the only worry I would have is if the clutch gives up the ghost

Lovely motors chaps.
4x4, Your story is similar to mine. Since owing the car from Nov 2015, Ive changed front and back discs and pads, wishbones, fuel filter x 2 , front drop links, all belts, pulleys, tensioners, Haldex service and filter, and a new air con condenser. Ive got manual so have changed the gearbox oil and transfer box and diff oils. Ive fitted the subframes inserts, the inserts for the top engine strut bar, all new engine mounts, new swirl flaps and link arm, 1 rear shocker, 2 new callipers (rear), new Electronic Throttle Motor, and a new drive shaft ! As well as numerous oil changes !!!! Am I mad... maybe. Ive spent a fair few quid. But the car is now WELL sorted. A lot of it was preventative and proactive work. It is immense when caravanning, and on long journeys to visit family up in Scotland. |

Hi Dave, did try to PM you but I don't have enough posts. thanks for the kind offer but I'm after a well specced auto. I didn't put to much info in my original request because I didn't think it would be so difficult to find one 🙈. Once again I appreciate the offer.
