Default Hybrid System Failure XC90 T8

Ouch-had this come on over the weekend. Has anyone else shared the same fate? The car is 6 months old.

No, not seen this. Will the car start?

Please keep us updated - it will be particularly interesting to hear if it's a battery failure - £20,000 for a new one I understand!

You T8 owners seem to be having your fair share of problems. No good for towing, preconditioning not working etc..

A software update has fixed the error message I received for the Hydrid failure. I also tried the climate preconditioning via the app (ahead of the cold spell coming) and this worked so all good :-)

Glad to hear you're up and running. Did you have to re-enter all your settings after the software update?

We had it occur about two months ago. It was right after normal servicing. Ours is a 2017 T8 Hybrid w/ about 21k miles on it. The dealer restored all the software to no avail. Then they replaced a small battery that had failed in the system than runs the notices. Then they replaced the actual Hybrid battery. That fixed the problem. There were no costs because the car is still under warranty.

You can get a good idea of the faith the manufacturer has in its components by the warranty it offers on them.

Toyota's battery warranty is 8 years/100,000 miles.
Volvo's is the same.
(Except in some US states where it's 10 years and 150,000 miles)

Hyundai on the all-electric Ioniq, is 8 years/125,000 miles
