Sensus Map Update problem
I have been trying to update my Sensus Map with the latest update for Europe, without any success. Every time I attempt it, I get a “Map update failed. USB unreadable” message.
The process I am using is to copy the map update to hard disk, then using a newly formatted FAT32 32Gb USB, I copy from the hard disk to the USB. I don’t use the quick format option, so it is a full format of the USB. I then use the Sensus Update ‘Check Download’ on the USB, which passes successfully. When I insert the USB into the car I get the update ongoing screen and a progress bar that shows some progress by moving along approx. 1 cm. Then it fails with the “Map update failed. USB unreadable” message. I have tried 2 different USBs with the same result, the second one is a ScanDisk was bought new on Friday, so I know the USB is OK. Any Ideas what is going on?

I get this every time I update. I did the latest update today and got the usb unreadable message four times. If you leave the usb stick in and press exit on the steering wheel it restarts the update from where it failed and continues. The progress bar resets to the start and then continues from where it left off after a few seconds.

Thank you for the feedback, I will try this later. This has been driving me mad trying to get the maps updated.
Could it be that there is a bug in the Volvo map software download

Sensus map problem
As a Mac user, loading map updates is problematic. I have tried formatting the memory stick as MSDOS (FAT32) and as XFAT neither result in a successful loading of the update. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Calderstone, may I suggest you liaise directly with Volvo UK Customer Service? I finally gave up doing the various methods listed on the forum and I have highlighted all the issue(s) I have been experiencing to them. Plus then, to top it all, the method the main dealership service staff told me to do did not work.
Volvo UK customer service staff say they have also been unable to download the latest update using a Mac, we are not alone! I could copy a part of their correspondence to me, but I don't want anyone to get into trouble. It appears Volvo Sweden is not being that helpful either. I have made the suggestion to Volvo UK staff, that perhaps as a part of the annual servicing schedule, then their main dealerships could provide the sat nav map updates as part of the service schedule foc as a way of saying 'thank you' to their loyal customers. I should add, that Volvo UK staff have provided a personal solution to the case that was raised and as a result my car is currently updating the maps as I type. I have thanked them and advised that this method is really not the best way forward for Volvo UK. |

I've never had a problem with using my Mac for the download process. I download to the HD, then transfer across to a newly-formatted (FAT) 32Gb Kingston USB. Use MS-DOS (FAT) - this is FAT-32 in Windows world. It has never failed to work first time.
