Default Question regarding differentials

Hi

A very simple question..would a 1800ES diff fit a 1800S back axle.
I have a chance of an ES diff and would be looking to keep it as a spare for my 1800S i believe the ratio is slightly different.i won't go for it fit I'd not going to physically fit or have a detrimental affect on my car should I need it

What makes you think it won't fit?
I thought diff innards were interchangeable across the rear axle change. Though i'm going on amazon info here.
