I had an issue with the sunroof on my old Merc and it was going to cost a fortune to fix. My solution was to buy some neoprene (squeezy) cord on eBay and use it to fill the gap. Worked perfectly.

Default I have the exact same issue on my V90

I reported it on my service and they cleaned out the ducts on the sunroof but 4 weeks later and a very heavy shower of rain today, my alarm went off twice and when I went out to the car the same drip from behind the rearview mirror and from the SRS cowling.

Default V70 R sunroof

I never use the sunroof, so I cleaned the two front tubes and then closed the roof and took out the fuse, forever. Then I cleaned the roof and applied 2-inch wide blue electrical tape to CLOSE the gap forever.

No more risk of clogged tubes and a drip inside the car.

That is so so sad.

Thank you for posting this thread. I have a similar issue on our 2017 XC90 D5 too, more recently now we've had wetter weather. Car parked near enough flat on drive, leave and drive down hill - water comes from under the rear view mirror. Opening the sunroof and I can see water inside the inner channel (which has tiny holes at the front straight into the headlining)

Did you manage to find a fix for this? Or did reshaping the rubber work for you?

I have been in contact with Volvo UK about this issue on my XC90. They do not want to take any responsibility for the issue. I am repairing the issue with an independent garage and will be taking Volvo UK to the Motor Ombudsman Court.
