Default 340 window seals

My elderly mother has a 340 1.7 on an E plate (45000 miles from new!) and all the rubber window seals have gone hard and are breaking up -

I was wondering how difficuly/costly the replacement of the seals will be since the car has little value even thoough it is still rust pretty much rust free and running well.

any info would be appreciated

Hi, my 340 is the same age but twice the mileage and my rubber seals are still ok .They are very easy to take out by just carefully leverin up up with a flat table knife. You could try some rubber polish to soften them first before seeing how much new ones are or investigate a breakers yard .

The ones on my car have gone, causing water to get in the door bottoms, and is now rotting them out (charming!)

I though maybe silicon sealer could be used as a cheap stop-gap while new seals are found?

cheers

James

Ta guys

Local breakers said "yup they all go that way" and sure enough the two in his yard had been stripped

Rubber polish didnt work

BUT --- silicon sealant seems to have done the trick although it will not win any prizes for looks

thanks for the suggestions

I have noticed Edgeware Trim have a seal T130 that may be a replacement . They are £10 a metre and you can order on their website www.rubbertrim.co.uk

If you prise out the old seal ,measure the gap beteween glass and door then go to www.rubbertrim.co.uk and you can download seal T130 from their drawings or phone them to ask if suitable for this gap . T130 looks better than the original to me.

regards, Steve

Was curious to know if anyone ever ventured further in fixing their 340 window seals? Ours leak as well and we are planning to get working on the car over the spring time. Had a wee look at www.rubbertrim.co.uk as recommended but which sills would be OK for a 340? Anyone with any experience please let me know? Or recommend somewhere else they can be obtained? Asked in the local halfords and they said only place was volvo which I imagine to be very expensive?

Cheers

DD
