Once aluminium has been anodised it can't be redone. The process is a controlled chemical corrosion which leaves a tough protective layer on the surface. A colour dye can be added during this process. To allow the process to be redone would require that the anodised surface be removed back to the raw aluminium. It may be only 10 to 15 microns thick but getting that off evenly without destroying the smoothness of the finish would be difficult. Obviously not viable for a grille!

Good info from Derek...I'd add to that, that Grills being in the location they are, are challenged and get blasted by sand and debris in service, so ANY treatment and finish needs to accommodate this without looking poor soon after a few miles (which would rather bother me...)...with this in mind, and as an alternative, I (pre!)blasted my grills, then painted them silver...so they look silver and good (although not polished and shiny) immediately, and also after a lot of road-time. Do Amazons have aluminium grills then?
My PV grill is most certainly made from a material that rusts...
