Apologies for the thread bump here.
Does anyone know specifically what sump plug washer (size) is required for a Volvo 940 GLE 1992 estate - B230F engine? I know the sump plug is one-inch in diameter - but which washer? |

The answer to your question is in that listing but i quote : "Copper Sump Washer CU 19 x 26 x 2 to DIN 7603A" Chances are it's an M18 thread so an M18 Dowty seal would also work. It would need to be measured during the next oil change to be sure though - it could be a 3/4" diameter thread instead if the spanner size is 1" or it might be M19 (unusual thread size though) - you'll have to get your digital vernier out to measure the thread size. Note that a Dowty seal has an internal "skirt" that literally screws onto the thread which improves sealing.

your dealer will be able to help you for a few shillings , These are imperial by the way as you suggested not metric . The sump plug is the only imperial thread carried over from the pre 1974 era !

Thanks for this - exactly what I needed.
My dealer may be able to help - but every time I've turned up to said establishment (naming no names - it's hardly nearby) and mentioned the fact that I need parts for a 28 year old vehicle, they've looked at me as if there's something wrong with me... |

At this stage we need to buy parts like this on specification, not PN. We need a central repositoiry like a BOM (Bill of materials = Vida), with AML (approved mfr list) and ideally a full technical spec. So we just need a database to link VPN, MFR MPN and tech spec.
I've got a few O-rings spec'd out. |

I've bought my last few genuine filters from Brookhouse. They list the correct copper washer to fit as well. 54p
