Default Knocking

Hi
The knocking noise on my V60 was a small stone trapped under the os rear spring. Drove me mad for weeks and when we found the stone it had polished by the intermittent rubbing it had had whilst under the spring.

What a strange issue to have! Im currently sitting in the garage but not holding My breath about them finding the issue... If they can't maybe I'll look at the tailgate etc... I can't think of anything else

Well everything is mechanically sound. They took the car out 3 times and deduced that the sound is definitely inside so I'm now having a poke about... I've removed the triangle and I've also wedged some cloths in between the black plastic panel on the lip of the boot and the bodywork as that seemed to make a rattle when I punched it and it does seem quieter...

I've given up.. There is literally nothing else to check.. It must be something deep within the trim of the car or something.. I'd like to take the parcel shelf off but that looks impossible! I might have one last last go and try driving with both seats down, no boot floor and no toolkit but then that's it..

Hi, have you checked above the headlining? Maybe a loose wire or connector up there? Also I once spent hours driving round in an Avensis with a colleague listening for a rattle that was very intermittent, it turned out to be the centre arm rest that he was using intermittently without realising. Good luck anyway....

Well the headlining is loose around the high stop light so will give that a go, thanks!

It looks like the previous owner has been messing around up there for some reason.

Get someone to drive you around a car park and you go in the boot and you might be able to pinpoint where its coming from.

Well after much swearing and general depression lol I've finally solved it... Headlining.

Very noisy went you hit it with your hand and plus then high stop light has come adrift of the window. I dammed a tea towel in between the headliner and the roof to make sure that that was the issue and all silent so will be doing a proper fix tomorrow
