Default Grom USB3

Hi all...

I keep toying with the idea of getting the Grom USB3 to add to a HU-850

And was wondering what you thought of them? And as I have an android phone I understand you have to use the Dashlinq app, any good?

Thanks

Hi they work very well,
You do not need to run Dashlinq app,
one connected to the phone anything with sound can stream to the sound system,

Sat in the car listening to mine on an iPhone even as I type; the phone just sees a pair of wireless headphones and broadcasts to that. Or, you can use a cable but I don’t bother generally.
Simple to fit, Bloody excellent idea!

In my view it's certainly best to get the Grom with the USB input. this means you can use a USB data stick with a huge amount of music on and not bother with linking to a phone, but you can also buy the phone interface too. If you buy the non-USB Grom you lose the USB stick option. I think the USB Grom is only a little more expensive but the Bluetooth add-on will up the price. I just use a USB stick and make them up on my Mac.

Definitely worth getting the Bluetooth version, calls and music streaming work well.

I've had a USBP2 for ages. It worked ok until I replaced my samsung s8 with an s9 and now I get no audio through the 10 CD changer emulated interface. You'd be best off with the BT probably.

I agree that the GROM is a bit pricey but the original head units are quality audio products.
I personally don't see how a touch-screen all-in-one no name units could afford the interface, quality DA converters and preamps + profit margin within the price of the GROM unit?
Could you give us an example of a head unit you would see competing with original + GROM?
