Default 16 valve head on b230ft engine

So aside from fabricating a piece to attatch a 16V head to a turbo block what are the benefits and complications? I am pretty new sorry.

What piece do you have to fabricate? It'll bolt right on. You have to make up a timing belt tensioner and use a Saab 'crab' cap from Yoshifab. VW tensioner can be used I think.

If you don't fit balance shafts, it won't be as smooth as it could be, but some people don't seem to mind.
Having had a 16v with the shafts on, it was smoother than a V6 Audi I had previously. Great engine the B234F is/was, just don't let the metal corrode, use good antifreeze.
Oh, the manifolds are different, at least I know the inlet one is.

what about compression ratio? It needs working out , sure to be someone who has already done that of course . But for your particular pistons .

Default turbo

The later blocks together with the 16v head usually have a big turbo attached. Have a look over on turbobricks. It's not an easy or cheap conversion. I'm about 1/3 way into it atm. Only worth doing if you're wanting 450bhp +.

so it will bot right on, and I know about all the yoshifab parts, and what shafts? can they balance them when I get it ported and plained? I bought the car with the 16 valve head for $200 and everything seems to be in great shape so I lucked out there, even has a nice set of rims and a bunch of other parts I can use.

Anyway the engine I want to do this with is my 1990 turbo 740 engine with 560,000 clicks on it, I plan on using Mahle pistons, but i want to use as many original parts that I can, and everything else from IPD.

a knock/tap is usually piston slap on Cyl 4 caused by overheating at some time . Not detrimental though .
