SU Carb synchronising
Hi
Thought I'd add a little tip I used at this weekend for synchronising dual carbs. All you need is a fairly recent car with a MAF sensor (airlfow meter) and a couple of power supplies. I quickly borrowed one off my Dad for the day. Most MAF sensors will have 4 pins; 12v in, 5v in, ground and output pin. First things you need to work which is which for your MAF sensor, this can normally be done by just taking a couple of read off the pins. Next you have to find a 12v and 5v source. 5v sources are pretty easy to come by, pretty much every phone charger youve ever used is 5v. Then 12vv I wouldn't use the car supply because it fluctuates a little too much, I found a 12v power supply in my house. Now all you have to do is attatch a 12v, 5v and the ground. Place the MAF sensor over the Carb. You can now take a reading from the output pin with a multimeter! Basically the faster the airflow the lower reading you'll get on the output pin so just tune each Carb until you get the same voltage on he output pin for each one. Just a little tip if you don't want to buy one of those fancy airflow meters |

I like your thinking. A little bit too involved for my simple mind though. I use one of these little things, works really well.

Very clever idea! Now we just need a microprocessor and stepper motors to control idle speed/mixture............

Nice idea! I did think about using a similar setup as a flow bench for testing gas flow when doing cylinder heads, with a vacuum cleaner to provide airflow.

What's wrong with a couple of feet of rubber tube linked to the Mk 1 earole? When the throttle is wide open, a tiny discrepancy is meaningless!
