Clanking over bumps from front of amazon
I'm getting a metallic clanking when I go over bumps from the font of my amazon. I had thought it was exhaust (sounds like that) but it is secure. Checked everything I can think of.
There are new springs, shocks, tyres, engine mounts and exhaust. It could be bottom ball joints (attached to wishbones?) how do I check these? If it is this, do i just compress the springs and undo the bolts/ ball split, and replace? Thanks for the advice Baz |

Suggest checking that the engine cross member is properly attached to the chassis. I experienced a similar sounding problem on a 221 and traced it to a couple of loose cross member mounting bolts.

RE: Clanking over bumps from front of amazon
Thanks for this info Barry.
I found out what the prob was; Old exhaust nut had fallen down the exhaust downpipe and was rattling when car went over bumps. Talk about the old marble in the ashtray trick! Baz |
