122 cracked dash tops
I have the usual 122 cracked dash top. Any tips/hints on recovering the offending beast. I bought the car to replace as a temporary measure my 1951 Riley 2 1/2 while starting a build on a Riley special but I have really grown to like it (even though it's that 'slate' grey). Regards to all -

RE: 122 cracked dash tops
When I was at the Volvo V44 fair in Holland last year I saw a stall by a comapny that is remanufacturing Amazons dash's. I don't know if they are doing RHD and I don't remember their name. Maybe someone elso knows.

You could try contacting Scandcar in the Netherlands (http://www.scandcar.nl) as I have seen a Dutch car fitted with a replacement cover that looked identical to the original but was a bit harder and they are one of the larger Dutch parts suppliers. Aternatively if originality isn't important I gather that a trimmer can cover the dash with padded black vinyl for a reasonable cost.
CVI Automotive in Sweden (http://www.cvi-automotive.se) do commission some remanufactured parts as well, but I don't know whether their range of trim extends to dash tops. |

When I had a 122s a few years ago I 'repaired' the dash with black silicone sealer and it was invisible from outside the car, though if you looked hard enough you could see it from the drivers seat.

RE: 122 cracked dash tops
A follow up to my original posting. I went to our local upholsteres and bought 1mtr of black leatherette for £8.00, the thin 'stretchy' type when warmed as recommended by them. One can of evostick, took off all metalwork around screen + chrome strip. It was easier than expected and results are good, even the original lines show through. A respectable dash for £10.00 + an hour or two!
