To manually change from LH Driving to RH Driving the headlamp must be removed from the bodywork, wiring disconnected, open up the back of the plastic unit (mind your fingernails) and inside the nacelle is the box with the lever to flip the low beam pattern. Reassemble without dropping the lamp unit and then repeat on the other side.

The Techie was of the opinion that as the Xenon units give a flat beam the change over won't make a lot of difference. But if I'm still uncertain he'll test for the difference with the MOT lamp tester. Maybe later after I've tested it in France.
This sounds exactly like it was in my 2009 V50 where I had active bi-xenons. The owners manual diagram was very unhelpful until my dealer showed me how to do it. I can't remember whether the UK setting was 'A' or 'B', but I noticed they were set one to A and one to B. So I took some photographs of the individual beam patterns set at A and B. There was very little difference between A and B. In my XC60 (where the change is made in MyCar), I have compared the beams against a flat wall and, again, there is very little difference.

Would you recommend disabling the bendy headlight function whilst driving in France / Europe ?

What does the manual say ? In theory I suppose it would stop the lights bending towards on-coming traffic in certain situations (but this would also apply in the UK).

Why? the roads bend in the same way and it wont make any difference that you are on the other side of the road.

I think the bendy function only works at low speed.

Actually it does not work at very low speeds.
