Just an update about my sticky door handle. Car was in this morning and as mentioned in post #15 above the handle was removed and some filing done before lubricating and re-assembling.

If it is such a common and longstanding problem with these door handles then it seems a bit lackadaisical of Volvo not to have sorted this by now.

I recall this used to happen with my old (2009) V50. It has started to manifest itself with my new XC60. Not too troublesome to warrant lubrication etc., but (as you say) it should have been sorted.

It is something you could do yourself Iain - from my experience it's the same door handle holding mechanism as Fords. You do have to be careful not to slacken the t25 torx too much though - just enough to remove the cover plate (where the keyhole is/would have been) - otherwise (IIRC) the internal mechanism can disconnect and you will have to remove the door panel to fix it.

I did have the sticking handle problem with the O/S rear door on my V70 when I got it - I fixed it by removing the blanking plug (visible with door open) and slackening the torx screw just enough to stop the sticking but not to make the cover plate loose. A trick learned from my years of Mondeo ownership!!

Holy thread resurrection Batman ........

Had the same and its now a service bulletin dealt with under warranty. As mentioned before they remove file away 1mm and refit with lube.

If your Volvo dealer tried to fob you off with a squirt of WD40 ( which will last a week or 2 no more ) then tell them to look at Technical Journal 20904 (TL2094)

Default Sticky Door Handle

Use oil based lubricants with caution, the residue of oil that remains will become a trap for dirt/grit which may cause future problems.
I used silicone spray on my door handle that did not return to its proper position and it has stayed fixed over the winter.

Had the "fix" done a month ago on my 2015 XC60. Dealer confirmed there's a bulletin IE. file 1mm away. All's perfect now :-) PS. they did all 4 handles although the problem was only with the drivers.

I had the same problem with my 2009 V50 - as I do now with my XC60.

Hello, does anyone know how to do this and where to file some material off? Or does anyone have acces to VIDA to see how this TL2094 looks like? Or is there another place to look for TL2094? I have a 2013 V70 with this problem...

Thanx, J
