Water Sloshing on XC60
Have seen the discussion so far on the subject. ...
Let me add I run an '09 XC60 with 230,000 miles. sloshing sound seems to be coming from passenger side particularly audible from the rear passenger seat The carpet in the rear passenger footwell is wet It also seems to be connected with the heating system. When the heater / air conditioner is going - that seems to activate or speed up the sloshing sound. Advice please |

Confirmed there's a known problem with screen bonding.
See https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...90#post2407590 Now waiting to see if the slohing returns Last edited by Dude; May 25th, 2018 at 19:02. |

drill a tiny hole in the floor, no more sloshing.

My Proton and Mazda filled with water and I am afraid I opted for the ghetto approach of popping out or drilling the bungs in the floor to keep them drained, at least until I got to stop the leak, so at least rust doesn't set in. Newspaper is great for soaking up wet under carpets.
On a side note, a friend's Seat Altea had water sloshing in the back and it turned out to be a large amount of water collected in the silencer, that could not be tipped out, no matter what way I turned it over and around, had me baffled (pun intended). I didn't want to drill a hole in it (as my Mazda has from the factory) as it was due for an MOT, I know some people fit a self tapper as a drain. It only did short journeys, so it never got hot enough to boil it off!

Water sloshing in mine too!
My xc60 has the same sloshing issue. All seems dry inside but there is a loud sloshing that appears to be in the central pillar. My wife drove while I sat in the seat behind and the noise seemed to be coming through the vent. I did check doors and carpets and all is dry and clean so a real tricky one. Maybe water has entered via the roof rails? But how to get it out is a mystery as others have said drilling random holes is too risky and obviously there could be compartments so a hole might be in the wrong place! Anybody know how easy to remove the trims on that central pillar to look further??

Car is now a year on (?) from the rebond and no problem at all, even with the rain we're currently getting. Many Volvo dealers won't do screens themselves, we looked up Windscreen Specialists in our area and asked if they could replace a screen with a genuine Volvo screen and it soon became clear who the dealer used. Good luck (see also https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...89#post2407589) |

As posted in No. 16, my 2016 XC60 has a sloshing noise (liquid moving around) in the B-pillar on the driver's (left, here) side. I can hear it behind my head as the car turns a corner or mounts a curb. I am thinking it must be a clogged sunroof drain? Others posting here have suggested the windscreen bonding is the culprit, but the location of my noise is not near the windscreen. Guess I could be hearing water in the left side sill, though.
Does anyone know where the eventual drain openings are for the sunroof drains, so I can look there for blockage? Cheers, Bob (first time posting) |

I know it's not intuitive, but the windscreen bonding issue does cause sloshing in the floor pan/bottom of pillars. The water just makes its way down.
