XC60 Slider Pons
Planning on doing my brakes this weekend. Does anyone know the hex size for the front and rear slider pins on a 63 XC60 d5 AWD? I've seen some people say 7mm and others 9mm. And also Volvo sais not to grease them either.

From memory mine were 9mm. Just checked my tool box and there is a nice new 3/8 drive socket in there.
Had to buy it as none of the sets had a 9 mm one in it. Your car is a similar age to mine so may be the same. Just clean all of the gunge off and may sure they slide smoothly.

I'm sure if you asked Volvo, they would also say that you shouldn't be doing any of the job yourself.
Clean and lightly grease the interior of the pin boot and clean and lightly grease the pin. Use brake grease only and my off the shelf preference is ATE brake grease which is about £3 from Eurocarparts.

Cheers. Does anyone know the torque specs for the slider pins, 18 mm front caliper bolts, t50 disc bolts, t30 Bolts holding the epb motor on the rear and the rear caliper bolts?

Pretty sure my sliders were Torx rather than hex? In my ignorance of Volvo's instructions, I greased the sliders and pad ears, etc using ceramic brake grease. It seems odd not to!

Most slider pins use silicone grease; lubrication and it repels water.

Maybe too late, but torque values on a S60 as follows (should be the same):
Caliper bracket bolts 200Nm Guide pins 30Nm Brake disc retaining bolt 35Nm I use the battery rewind method so have never taken the EPB motor off. |

This sounds very high for a caliper bracket bolt. Where is the figure from?

Not sure of the exact source now but I did a lot of research to find the correct value before I did the work. I've recorded all of the values in a file for future reference. I thought it was high too, hence the research. All went well replacing the bolts and they certainly took a lot of force to undo.

Every chance the fronts will be 9mm and the rears 7mm. Rather than buying an Allen key buy 3/8” dried ones with a shaft thats 2-3” long it will be easier using a ratchet to do the job.
Another tip is when you take the pins out grip the thread lightly in a drill chuck and remove any black build up with emery cloth while spinning them.
