Default XC90 Brake discs/pads

Does anyone know who makes the ‘OEM’ brake discs/pads? All 4 of mine need replacing (40k miles/70k Kim’s) which seems OK for pads but not that great for the discs, they are apparently grooved as the pads weren’t replaced early enough (despite being at the dealers 8k ago) and I have been quoted around £300/disc. We live in NZ now and the total bill for all 4 corners is $2300 or £1150 which seems excessive to me as discs seem to be around £50 each online but just wondered which brand Volvo normally use as I doubt they make their own and I’m guessing the ones they are looking to use here are not made of gold. Amazon will deliver aftermarket discs/pads for around $500 inc shipping (£250) for all four corners.

2016 D5 XC90

Bosch, brembo?

Cheers

If you're looking for the same quality as the genuine Volvo stuff, I'd be looking at genuine Volvo stuff. A full set of genuine Volvo discs and pads can be had from a Volvo dealers ebay shop quite easily in the UK for £372.20 delivered (don't know how much that helps you in NZ, do you not have similar availability on ebay?)

Just for rear pads replacing a few weeks ago I was quoted £200 fitted by my dealer, as you've said - excessive. In the end it cost £60 for the pads delivered and about half an hour of my time on the drive. I have some experience with car maintenance and was still surprised how easy it was, even with the electric barking brake. If you're not up for doing it yourself, any reasonably competent garage will be able to fit them for a fraction of the dealer price.

I am really looking at genuine Volvo stuff but I hadn’t found any, just Bosch, brembo etc. Which is why I wondered what was OEM But if there are some that are Volvo branded I’ll have a look on eBay. Any chance you have a link to a genuine dealer? I get worried about counterfeit goods on eBay. Most places will deliver here or I can get them shipped another way. they were quoting around £300 a pair for the discs alone which I doubt even with shipping they would be from the UK.

Cheers

ATE made the MK1 braking system (along with most of Volvo's other models) and its name could be found stamped on the calipers and other system components so take a look.
Even if Volvo now use another company, ATE are still of the highest quality.
