any idea if this will fit a MY2006 XC70 SE Lux?

The car has the built in phone unit which I want to keep but the radio has now started annoying random on/off trick and the cd stopped years ago.

I would expect to have to remove the unit from the S60 trim and fit to the XC70 trim other than that I assume that it would work?

Does a change of head-unit (even like-for-like) need to be coded-in with VIDA ?

Possibly but I changed a 650 for an 850 with no issues. VIDA reports a discrepancy but everything functions just fine.
