Default V70 D5 geartronic

I just testing the water at the moment.

Essentially I have had some hefty bills (mostly on this car and the wifes Golf and house building work) recently and need to sell something to get some cash back

Quick summary of the car:
2007 D5 185 special edition sport
Titanium grey with light sand (I think) leather
Geartronic
48K genuine miles
Wheels refurbished December 2015
Full gearbox rebuild this year at a cost of £3K new seals, valve body, friction plates etc it had a complete failure and a rebuild was the only long term solution, especially given the condition of everything else.

Its a great car which looks amazing for its age, prior to me owning it, it spent its life in the owners garage and only did about 3K miles a year.

I'd hope to get £6K for it, which would give me enough to pay some things off and get an older manual V70 D5.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance

I'll dig out some pictures at some point.

Stick it on ebay, and that will give you an indication.

I think you might be at least the gearbox rebuild away from what you believe the car is worth and what the market thinks.

Good luck anyway.

I think the mileage is your best selling feature but the gearbox history would put a lot off.
Certainly the car to me would be worth less, not more, than the potential market value because of the gearbox rebuild on such a low mileage car.

Cars are only ever worth what the market will pay for them, it will be worth a lot more to some than to others, and this very much depends on the buyers who are looking at the time.

As said above, put it up for sale and see if you get a nibble. If the phone rings off the hook it is too cheap, if its silent it is too expensive

Try an alternative to ebay like car and classic if you fancy a different audience.

Al

Hi, I am only stating this as you have invited comments.

As has been mentioned some will be put off by the gearbox rebuild whilst some will not be bothered especially when coupled with the low mileage.

Price wise, it is a 10 year old car and I think that you are a country mile off with valuation but as with most things it's what someone is willing to pay.

As a quick guide why not submit the details to webuyanycar.com ( it only takes a minute ) and add £1000 to the figure that they give you.

That will then be reasonably accurate I would have thought and gives you something to work on.

Thanks for the replies, after having a look around I do think I am being a bit too optimistic with £6K.

I take on board the other comments too, all makes sense. I might pop it on and see what the response is like. At the end of the day I like the car so will happy live with it for some time if its not going to pay off by selling for a cheaper higher mileage one.

Again, I appreciate the comments, always good to bounce some thoughts around on the forum

Interestingly We buy any car have said £4295... which is more that I thought they'd say!

Long shot i know, but did it sell? If so, would you share with us what it went for? I'm looking for a Sport Special Edition at the moment and they are getting advertised for silly money!

I haven't sold it yet, to be honest I've not had time to advertise properly, nor have I found a suitable manual replacement... like you anything I've seen is up for around £6K for a manual with sub 100k miles.

Oddly, just this week there were three almost identical Black 2007 special edition sports for sale, all around £6K.

I'd probably expect to get £4.5 to £5.5 for mine so maybe the ones at 6 are not too far off the mark, they are lowish miles too but not as low as mine (54K).

For me I think the priorities have moved to the wifes golf which either needs to go or have a heap spent on it... golden gate bridge comes to mind!

Good luck looking!

Yep I've been to view one of them this morning but the guy won't budge an inch on price. I was also going to view the one in Suffolk thjs weekend but that sold. If the one in Hampshire is still available next week I'll go and view that, but it's the 163bhp engi e and I'm not so keen on that.

You're probably there or thereabouts with your estimate as there is a geartronic for sale on ebay with low miles for £5250.

If your serious about selling yours I'd be interested in seeing some photos.

Time to resurrect the thread... due to a change in job a new car will inevitably be on the way so the V70 has to go.

I'd rather not sell to webuyanyoldcard or trade in so if there is any interest on here let me know asap.

Current mileage is 67K, cambelt, tensioners etc all done recently.

Only issues known are:
Will need centre exhaust hanger at some point - corroded but not broken
Alarm siren needs replacing
Slight vibration at around 1800rpm under light load, usually around 40-45mph - I've not looked to see what this is.

I can't lay my hands on any pictures at the moment so will get some tomorrow and post up.

£4K would be nice but open to sensible offers

Available separately, or for the right price, would be Volvo specific cross roof aero bars (used once), rubber over mats and pa-300 amp.
