I live about 0.4 miles away from the entrance to the park as the crow flies.

Pennington Flash Country Park is actually in Leigh, Lancashire - it is close to the Cheshire border which is in Lowton nearby.

I point this out for anyone who did not see the thread in which the meet was proposed and to avoid confusion when travelling there and thinking they are going to Cheshire.

For your satnav the postcode of Leigh Fire Station which is almost directly opposite the entrance to Pennington Flash Country park is WN7 3PA.
The entrance is close to the junction of the A579 and the A572 on St Helens Road.
There are those brown, local attraction, direction signs to the route once you get within a short distance.

There is a snack van on site offering food.
Directly opposite the entrance to the park there is The Robin Hood Pub where there is Tino's restaurant which has an a-la-carte menu, including pasta dishes in the lower price, to more expensive steaks etc with sauces.
We have eaten there many times in the evening and have rarely managed a sweet, ie portions are good and so is the food.

Also, along the A579 Atherleigh Way travelling roughly Northwards, there is a KFC and a ( I think it's a ) Harvester pub that has a choice of menus and specials on a Sunday at The Parsonage retail park ( about 1.25 miles ), in the same direction within about 2.4 miles is a McDonnalds in the Asda store.

On a separate issue, if anyone attending has a pair of Volvo front door loudspeakers for a 240 I could be interested. My manual 240 has non OEM door speakers that obstruct the electric windows opening fully.
I'll have to think what else I'm looking for.
I have one or two 440 bits from when I owned a 440.
Will have to search them out.

Maybe intended attendees could post bits here that they have to offer in the Volvo range so that interest can be gained.

If anyone needs any further local knowledge don't be afraid to ask me, I'm subscribed to the thread and will receive an email.

If you are travelling a distance and need an overnight stay I'll look at what accommodation is available in the area though I have never stayed at any in Leigh.

I will be there, I've made myself unavailable for work on that day.

I'll post the meeting details on the Leighlife website within a couple of days or so, so hopefully will attract the interest of local Volvo owners.

Great...I will be there...my first time...cough cough.....I live in Sale which is down the road really......

I think I will come in the old 940 estate wentworth as it is really in good nick...Considering I found it in a garden covered in sap..It just completed a 1800 mile euro trip...


The C70 is also good nick but not as unusual as the old wenty......

This is my first post so apologies for being a bit of a kill joy but..........
knowing the rangers at Pennington flash really well (don't ask)! I have spoken to them regarding this meet and................the good news is there is the possibility of a reserved area for those attending, provisinaly 20 volvos, either on the car park or a seperate area. The only reason for the enquiry is sundays are busy at the flash, and the members can be together! I may be able to get away with no parking charge but no guarentee!
I will let you all know here so don't let the organiser down!
