240GL 2.9lt 200bhp FOR SALE
It's too fast for me so I have decided to sell my project complete to someone who will be able to fully use it's potential.
Insurance value at £6000. 2.9lt 183bhp 194ft/lbs at wheels. normally aspirated. jenvy throttle bodies, emerald engine management, lots of engine mods now done 8000 miles, running very well. car completely rebuilt from chassis, all new engine parts inc racing pistons, con rods. gas flowed head. full instrumentation, rebuilt seats etc. far too much done to put on here. "Retro Cars" did a review in July 2009 edition. performance curves available from emerald. Over £10,000 spent. buyer gets many spares, from panels to discs. Sensible offers please. brynorpheus@hotmail.co.uk Last edited by brynorpheus; May 18th, 2010 at 00:45. |

For the claim of all that work, you will need pics, all history / receipts etc.

What engine does it have fitted? Modern-ish 2.9s which spring to mind are the Volvo straight 6 and Cosworth V6 from the Granada / Scorpio.
cheers James

Nothing to do with me, but I was curious. Here's a link:
http://www.retrocarsmag.com/siteFile...09/07jul/9.jpg Quick Brick Having run tweaked Volvos since the ’70s, John Bevan’s latest 240 GL might not look much from the outside, but with an imported 2.9 from Sweden running the show, is actually something of a street sleeper Looks very nice. I'd be interested in more photos please, although I confess I can't buy it. |

Ah, for some reason I thought I saw 6 cylinder...that'll teach me to go reading when knackered!
Yeah, the Swedes make the various bits needed to build some seriously fruity redblocks...Sten Parner, for example, does kits for 2.9L..which seems far too much of a coincidence! Apologies for that....bit of a reading fail! cheers James

I can't see the engine photos; is it the 16v with balancer shafts? If not, such a big capacity 4 is going to rev like a concrete mixer surely?
