I too have 18" wheels and Pirelli P Zeros but I found them OK for summer tyres trying to cope with snow and ice - never got stuck once. I did get a set of Goodyear Ultragrip 7+ 16". They make a big improvement to ride comfort and tyre noise, but steering goes pretty wooly.
You do feel much more confident on the winter tyres. Remember to let your insurance company know. |

Thinking of getting a set of winter tyres this year, I drive down to devon 1-2 times a month. Managed it last year with a bit of luck but with all the hills down there I don't fancy sticking it in a wall or something for the sake of not spending 600 quid.
That and I almost binned it last year on a small hump near the end of the M5, hit the hump and in the ice felt it going away, was a passenger for a couple of seconds before I caught it (more luck than anything really). Don't fancy that experience again. |
