Well, in the end, I gave up and sold the car. Its a pity - the car was 100% solid. Timewarp really. But I couldnt get the gas to go right. I blame the installer. He never REALLY tried to fix it and go back to the roots of his installation. He never swopped parts in. He always tweaked maps, updated firmware etc - but despite my suggestions, didnt swop in new injectors, hoses etc. It could have been something simple - but I wasnt going to dive in myself and try fixing too much.

Its probably less of an issue for you chaps on the mainland. You have more installers. I was snookered.

Now running an HDi and basking in an average of 56.5mpg and not looking back. I miss the buld quality of my Volvo... but will never do an LPG conversion again.

shame to hear that. glad your happy with your hdi though. the quality of installation makes all the difference. I made a few quid doing homers putting right badly done conversions but the damage to the reputation of lpg isn`t good.

Shame you ended up selling it. Alister is not a bad installer and genraly has a good reputation.

From the picture of the injector rail it is of the type that omvl had problems with and most of them by now would have been replaced under warranty. The rail may well not have been the problem but something else. It could have been more down to injector sizing and gas pressures, ecu fault etc ect.

I think thats where the problem ultimately lay. That rail is indeed the old OMVL rail which was replaced shortly after my conversion. Mine couldnt cope with the slow pulse speed at light throttle. Having to continually take mornings off work to try another remap became tiresome. It was always booked in quickly, dealt with courteously and remapped swiftly - but after 6+ attempts, only a new system would have fixed it I now think.

I asked another local registered installer for a 2nd opinion. He couldn't help as he'd stopped dealing with OMVL kit due to the continual problems he'd had with it. My brother in law got terrible MPG on a Nissan converted with the same OMVL kit... and a mate of his in work has an Astra with loads of issues relating to stammering when driving from junctions etc.

As to the real root causes of these problems - I dont know. It left a bad taste with me for sure and the biggest pity was I had to trade my V40 which was the best screwed together car I've owned asides from my cherished 1995 Audi Coupe V6 which is still like a new car.
