Default 850 T5 Brakes Issue

Hi Everyone,

Once again my 850 brakes are causing concern!

I've just noticed that my front brakes are making a funny noise when the ignition is turned on. I heard there's an ABS pre test etc. Is this noise normal? Also I have noticed that the front left-hand caliper has begun to occasionally stick, I also think the rear right-hand side caliper is doing the same from inspection of the disc. Which is showing signs of rust remaining in the top section of the disc. Is there a remedy for this problem or is it a case of caliper replacement?

Many thanks,

Just to Say

After a proper inspection of the brakes on a jack. Prompted this morning, when I noticed a new blue haze of smoke to go with the smell when I got out the car last night. It turn out the discs are shot. Front left was the smell and smoke culprit (Super heating and scratching a record ! The rest on a quick glance, looked Ok. But after feeling the face and gauge of the discs by hand, its obvious there past there sell by date. Thin and secondary groves all over them.

changing the disks and pads on the front are an easy and farly quick job.
I did mine for the first time a couple of weeks ago parts cost me £45 and a couple of hours work ,mind you in the rain.
After taking of the wheel it is only 4 bolts.
On another car I had I had a problem with sticking piston on the caliper all I did was take it out and used some wet and dry and took the rust off put it back and it worked fine after.

I agree, the discs and pads on an 850 are one of the easiest set ups I've ever changed, the worst part is jacking the car up!
