Doesn’t the “P2200” on the label indicate it’s for an estate?

FYI: Shows where the bolts go through to the angle iron brace in the spare wheel well Sorry no picture of that but might get round to it.

I think I still have the fitting instructions that came with ours as you could still buy them new, if you get stuck

Alternatively try towbar manufacturers Watling Towbars in St Albans. They list a towbar for the Amazon and will usually fabricate it if it isn't in stock. It would come with fitting instructions, bolts and a conventional flange type towball fitting.

The issue with most aftermarket ones is that they go through the bumper

Derek,
Thanks for the photo, I hadn't noticed those holes before. They seem to be full of a caulk and will need cleaning up. How thick should the angle iron be? Surely the side bars must fit to the chassis as well? Gillberry, A photo of the instructions would be nice if you have them. |

The tow bar side plates fit to the bumper iron attachment bolts. You may have to use longer bolts. Use good quality ones. I doubt if the line of staggered bolt holes is done at the factory. The original instructions may have come with a dimensioned strip for marking them out or you drilled to match the angle iron, I think my interior bar is an angle section, not positive, but that would be better as it is stiffer and stronger. 2" angle about 3/16" thick or about the same thickness as the mating back bar on the tow bar? Can't tell you but if I go up the garage I will check. The spacer washers are about 1/4" thick.
As said, I wasn't fitting it as a first fit. I removed it to fit the stainless rear bumper. It was also a good excuse to paint it. I then refitted it the same as it was. |
