If you got it in the airport the chances are it was kerosene (jet fuel)
The car should be going like a rocket...sorry...couldn't resist Although agricultural diesel is a lower grade, all diesel fuel is very smilar. The customs apply the a die so the can tell argricultural fuel from domestic when they go checking. ...but I'll stand corrected on that.

The wee bastard, I bet he did that on purpose for a laugh giving me jet fuel...
No driving issues tho i'll give it that. Just a thought tho, before i filled it up i was nearly out of fuel. Any chance sthat running so low could suck up dirt from the bottom of the tank and block the fuel filter? Dunno if thats a myth or if indeed theres truth about it. |

No more than filling from empty at the pumps, and would take a serious amount of dirt to block a fuel filter.

This could be my problem (from which I sourced off the net) although it's not stalling but revs dipping low enough....
Im convinced its the fuel, got a half tank of the stuff to get rid off lol 'When the engine stalls on deceleration it is usually an indication of lubrication problems in the pump. The first thing that should be checked is the idle RPM. If it is too low it could put the pump governor in a position where it cannot recover from the deceleration quick enough to keep the engine from stalling. If the idle is set to the proper RPM, a lubrication fuel additive might be used. In some cases a slight amount of water has passed through the system or an extra dry fuel has been used. This causes the metering valve or plungers & barrels to stick slightly. A lubrication additive in the fuel could solve this problem.' Would a bottle of 2 stroke solve this? |

I used to always put a liter of engine oil in with a tank of diesel in my 405, don't know if it done anygood or not, but it didn't do it any harm.
Was actually thinking about that myself last night.

Thankfully this has cleared up. Im putting it down to bad fuel. I gave it a full service and changed the fuel filter which was waxed to the max. Then treated to a bottle of magic diesel (which claims to turn water to gold). Anyway running much better! Also to note that the drum used was previously washing detergant for the valeters that arrives in bulk.

Interesting problem.
I also sometimes use locomotive (train) diesel but the car works better than the usual diesel. There is a bit more power and the engine spin like a kitty. |
