'Tis a Renault engine after all

Damn You AutoCorrect haha....some daft fake ones but some good stuff in there...."what size shirts do you take?" lol

Quote from Google search:

All the diesel engines in the first generation V40 and S40 were Renault sourced - the very reliable 1.9-litre (1870cc) F9Qt engine, called the D4192T by Volvo.

When the second generation S40 (and the V50) were introduced in 2004, these were based on the mechanicals of the second-generation Ford Focus, so share the Ford's Dagenham-built 1.6 and 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engines, which were co-developed by Ford and PSA Peugeot Citroën. Only the rarer 5-cylinder diesel engines (in 2.0 and 2.4-litre forms) are Volvo's own.

I'm not 100% sure mate, the engine codes for the 400-series and the 40-series seem to be different, 400 = D19T and 40 = D4192T....

but...

the link I posted above says that the early 40-series cars had the same diesel engine as the 400's......which would be the F9QT......so according to that one post yes

Certainly worth a trip to the scrap yard at least
