sorry, no its not a sticker. more like a bit of card. It simply has two very fine flat head screws, either side of the speedo needle that holds it in place.

Does your clocks have the digital info center or normal analoge fuel and temp guage? Also do you have the air bag in the steering wheel?

As I say its not a big job, just fiddly.

If your really fussy.... you could source the new dash, take out the speedo mechanism, manually clock/wind the mileage back to suit your km's then install it. That way you'll have your milage going up and wont be in km.

Analogue everything. No air bag.

I definitely won't be fussy! I intend leaving the mileage and trip counter as kilometers, but I may mark them as such.

I did this conversion on my 480 and replaced the complete cluster - it was remarkably easy.

Thanks for all the advice folks. Now bear with me. I'm looking for the cheapest option, so please tell me whether there's any way this will work, or whether I'm mad to even consider it.

Is there no way of etching markings onto the face, which I admit probably involves scratching the black surface off using an exacto knife or similar, to allow the backlight to shine through, and using a coloured marker pen? It would be extremely fiddly, I suspect, and may look cr*p, but is there any reason it couldn't work? If so, it could be done for next to nothing.

If I bodge it up completely, I could always revert to plan B or C.

Am I mad?

Sounds like a plan so give it a go. The back light should be ok to shine through it, if it's etched on. Sure keep us posted and put up some finished pictures! lol

No air bag will make the job a lot easier to remove the steering wheel!

My secondhand instrument cluster cost £5.00, how cheap do you want it to be?

I'd like it to be £5.00, but can't seem to find one for less than £50.00.

I found a complete UK instrument binnacle for my 780 on eBay for £12.

Haven't changed it though......
