Getting back to the original post,
My car will not connect to the house wifi (Virgin) but gives a message on Sensus wifi settings page about changing wife home modem to a different setting, can't remember the setting it says, I have never altered my home wifi setting just in case I bugger it up and all my other tech equipment will no longer connect.

I had the same problem, the car would show the home network but would not connect. My previous car with the older Sensus had no problem. To get it to connect the solution* was to alter the security setting to WPA2/personal. I was worried about altering the settings, but after reading the router manual it was just a case of selecting from a dropdown list, afterwards everything worked as before but I could also connect the car.

*Found a lot of excellent advice from various contributors on other threads.

I use the bundled Virgin router, but I changed the SSID names (separated 2.4G and 5G frequency into separate SSID) and I can connect without problem to the 2.4G network

I have now downloaded the west European Updates - ie UK, Iceland and I expect Eire. Using the smartphone hotspot, I have received the message indicating that the initialisation will take place when the engine is powered off.

Checking on the smart phone Data Connection I have used less than 1 GB so far to update the map plus a bit of messing around using the net away from the house.

I do not think that any of the apps have been updated yet.

I think that my initial problem is the distance from the WiFi transmitter to the car.
