Default Volvo v40 infotainment + Parking Sensors Fault/Issues

Hello.

I have a 2014 Volvo v40 which has an intermittent problem with the infotainment screen (radio) and Parking sensors in which they only work if the inside of the car is very hot.

Took it to the local dealership with this issue and they said it could possibly be the circuit board for the Infotainment which would cost £920 to supply and fit. Although they said that this might not be the problem and they would be playing 'technical fault darts' and this could not fix it at all.

Annoying as it does work fine when it comes on but there must be something expanding in the heat to make it work.

Anybody else had this issue? Would you recommend going for a second opinion? Could I find a replacement at a breakers?

Thank you in advance!

It could well be the IAM ( Radio) having a poor soldered joint , they have methods to determine which unit is faulty if they can be bothered , saying 'technical fault darts' is just so un-professional , the unit could be repaired if it is proved to be faulty and no the units are coded to the car they will not work in a different car .

and does anyone know what happens if I go ahead with the repair at a cost of £920 and it doesn't fix the fault?

Am I liable to pay them for the £920 or will they take out the new part out and put the old one back in?

They are the experts , they have all the diagnostic methods and information and help from volvo technical department if they need it ,they have to diagnose the fault and prove which unit is faulty and tell you with a quote ,not an estimate, If the fault is later found to be something else they have mis-diagnosed it and have to tell you before going ahead and it is their problem not yours , if it turns out to be a faulty connector block for example they can only charge you the diagnostic fee and for the connector parts used . As the car is not long out of warranty , depending what is wrong they can apply for a contribution from volvo , which may or may not be granted .
