Default Miles to empty?

Why does the miles to empty on my odo over read by 80 miles or so?

Can this be fixed?

What makes you say its over reading, What is it doing to make you think this? Need more info to help you....

It showed 80 miles to empty but ran out of fuel :-(

I've seen mine go down to 15, then it just shows three dashes.

See this I would expect mine is 80 then --- and out of fuel...

Can mine be adjusted to read as Steve's does?

Odd, because it only shows (at least here) 10-20-30-40-... (even numbers with a 0 at the end).

UK ones go in intervals of 5 miles. Mine was showing 20 miles the other day, still only managed to get 43 litres in though.

Thats what mine does, Will keep going down and get to 15 and then will show --- once below 15.

you ran out of fuel because the gauge says empty!( you do look at it? )
That is how you tell how much fuel is in the tank of course .
The miles to go is influenced by the recent average fuel consumption so can rapidly vary depending on whether you are driving economicaly or not , going hard up a steep hill will see the figure plumet . The less fuel in the tank the more this figure will vary .
Always use the fuel gauge ,you know it makes sense , it is a very accurate instrument especialy when in the red .
