Default Difference between XC70 2.4t awd & V70 r awd

Hi again all,

Again another query from me regarding these cars before i buy one.

Basically looking for petrol estate with a good bit of power late 1990's to very early 2000's.

Have seen that there are some T5 estate's in various states of repair/condition as well as a few of the V70R awd or XC70 T estate's with the B5244T3 (2.4l) variant engine.

There is a couple of different outputs as well and wanted to see if that is down to the turbo type/size or if it was something else,

Anyway, thanks for all the stuff to read up on the various threads,

Andy (Allgoode)

Hi Andy. I'm no expert, but Wikipedia has a pretty good page on the engine specs. Boils down to 2.4l vs 2.5l and a larger turbo on the R.

B5244T3
The B5244T3 is a 2.4 L (2,435 cc) straight-five. Bore is 83 mm (3.3 in) and stroke is 90 mm (3.5 in) with a compression ratio of 9:1. It is equipped with a Mitsubishi TD04HL-13T turbocharger and intercooled with a power output of 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp) at 6000 rpm with 285 N⋅m (210 lb⋅ft) of torque at 1800-5000 rpm.[113] It features exhaust cam VVT.

Applications:

2001–2003 Volvo S80 badged as S80 2.4T[135]
2001–2003 Volvo S60 badged as S60 2.4T[113]
2000–2003 Volvo V70 II badged as V70 2.4T
2001–2002 Volvo V70 XC II badged as V70 XC 2.4T AWD

B5254T4
The B5254T4[187] is a 2.5 L (2,521 cc) straight-five. Bore is 83 mm (3.3 in) and stroke is 93.2 mm (3.7 in) with a compression ratio of 8.5:1. It is turbocharged and intercooled and equipped with dual VVT. It produces 300 PS (221 kW; 296 hp) at 5500 rpm with 400 N⋅m (295 lb⋅ft) of torque at 2000–5250 rpm with the 6-speed manual transmission[nb 11];[140] 300 PS (221 kW; 296 hp) at 6000 rpm with 350 N⋅m (258 lb⋅ft) of torque at 1850–6000 rpm[188] with the 5-speed automatic transmission[nb 12]. Cars with the 6–speed automatic transmission[nb 13] were not torque limited.

It is equipped with a BorgWarner K24 turbocharger.[189]

Applications:[190]

2004–2007 Volvo S60 badged as S60 R AWD
2004–2007[191] Volvo V70 II badged as V70 R AWD[188]
