Default C30 turbo & injectors

Hi there

I have a 2009 1.6 diesel C30 which has done 124,000 miles and it has a couple if issues and I don't know what I should do. There has been a smell of soot/fumes inside the car for about 6 months & I thought it may have an issue with the exhaust. It has been driving really well with no excessive exhaust smoke or lack of power and it's fuel consumption has been around 54 mpg since I had the dpf replaced with an aftermarket one just over a year ago. 2 weeks ago I had a "reduced engine performance" message on the dash so I took it to Ron Sealey's in Cowdenbeath. He plugged it in to his PC and did a smoke test and found the part of exhaust after the dpf was badly corroded and leaking so replaced that and plugged it back into his PC and got an error on the turbo boost sensor. On further inspection he found that the turbo has a potential leak and 2 of the fuel injectors are leaking and the leaking fuel had carbonised and was around the top of the injectors although he suspects the injectors are OK. He replaced the turbo boost sensor & cleaned some others & all error codes are gone and the car is driveable. I could now be looking at a huge bill and I am not sure if it is worth it. If I take it back Ron will want to fit an OE turbo & to clean and replace the seals and reseat the injectors could be an all day job so I'm thinking I'll be lucky for the bill to be around £1500-2000. I am not sure I can justify spending that on it. I now think the smell in the car was the leaking injectors. I think I have 3 options. Drive it until it packs in, replace the turbo with an aftermarket turbo or sell it detailing the issues to someone who can fix it. Are aftermarket turbos OK? My usual mechanic in Callander said he wouldn't fit one although he had no issues fitting the aftermarket dpf. Is fitting one a big job?

Any advice would be welcome

Kevin

Its not likely there is a leak with the turbocharger. where is the leak from?

he will need to clean up the injector mess and refit them with new fitting kits. you can only use the kits once, that's probably why they are leaking now if someone has reused the old ones.

There is oil contamination in the air lines and air filter. Is this not from the turbo?
As far as I am aware the injectors have never been refitted.
As I said the car is driving ok and I think I have had the problems for sometime, especially the leaking injectors. The turbo boost sensor had failed and a couple of others needed cleaning so I assume that was from the turbo as well.

Its not easy to suggest where oil is coming from without being there, it might be worth taking a hose off the intercooler to see how much oil is in it...
