But as you correctly say probably will chime in soon here help

I know we've had our run ins the past 960kg, but we're from the same primordial soup you and I, in the sense we both learned from trial and error. I value anyone's opinion that has learned that way, even yours

960kg knows his stuff!

The only thing I'll disagree with of his, is the whole 'T4s need to be run on super unleaded all the time' theory....I've never heard of it being an issue on them. I always run mine on it for the performance/MPG but in terms of keeping the engine clean it's all bit of a unproven thing on the T4s.

I'm unsure of who this other person is they're talking about, it's not the oil man is it?!

The thing is me being and old git now and waiting for an op on my back all i mostly can do at the moment is Google and you will be surprised how many T4`s OR T5`s especially in the USA suffer from burnt out valves.

The USA is laden with poor octane fuel so perhaps this is why they suffer.

The T4 1855 was never sold in the US as it is a European model because of the 98 ron fuel available. They had the 2 litre 160/165bhp model which was run on the recommended 95ron fuel.

In the UK the recommended for the 2litre T3 coded engine is the 95ron fuel but then 98ron for the T5 coded engineT4.

Ok , so they can add additives but that is for motor mad enthusiasts not the pensioner in the street with a normal motor.

Yes, on a long run even i will put a lower octane fuel in to make it more economical but at the end of the day how much do you save, not that much compared to the cost if you do get a burnt out valve before you sell the car.

It is a case of everyone to there own, but beware!!!

How often would you need to re/change the oil on the filter to get maximum life out of it?

You would have to do an oil analysis on the filter oil to really see how dirty it is and get the correct service interval.
