Default Rear Seat Squab removal

Anyone know how to remove the rear seat squab on a 2013 XC70?

I have a cable to bring through from the boot and want to take it under the sound insulation under the rear seat base. Can't see a way of getting it under the insulation without removing the seat, which doesn't seem too keen to move......

IIRC you pull it forward and then upwards at the front. Theres a bar on the seat which clips to the body. Needs some force to remove it.

So grab the underside of the squab, pull towards the front of the car and towards the roof at the same time? What happens if i get it wrong? will it break?

Sorry, had the wrong order. Simply lift it up at the front and then it 'll come forward and out. Can't add pics from my phone but it's very easy to do.

Worked fine, thanks again.

I now have a permanent live accesory socket in the rear seat area fed from the permanent live accesory socket in the boot. Means that i can run the tele for my daughter on our long runs to scotland without it losing the place in the film and resetting if i stop the engine.....

For anyone else needing to remove the squab, there are 2 u shaped brackets on the underside of the seat and these fit in to slots in the car. The brackets are on each end of the seat, there is nothing in the middle other than an antisubmarining bracket, but the seat just lifts off this. You just need the confidence to give the squab a good hard tug upwards at the front and it comes off the floor.

Did you notice any wires under the squab when you lifted it? I have a yellow (? IIRC) connector which could look like the wiring for the rear electric heated seats. One of my little projects for the future!

Yep saw that both sides and assumed exactly as you have that it is for optional rear heated seats. Plently of wiring under the insulation too, running to the seat belt clips and i think there was something going to what looked liked a big grommit of the sort that covers a fuel tank sender unit.

Another point of interest is that i have seen for a while a small aluminium coloured tube sticking up from the floor of the car. It is visible when you fold the 60 percent portion of the seat down and look in the opening gap between the squab and the backrest. When i had the squab out i had a better look and realised it was poking out of the seat belt reel for the centre seatbelt. I can only conclude that it is a pyro technic seatbelt tensioner and to have this on the rear cental belt if very impressive. Mind you also makes me wonder if you have a shunt of enough forcd to trigger the airbags and tensioners whether it would economically write off even a very young car.......

Not a very young one, but 5 years old with all the airbags eploded, tensioners tensioned and some panel damage? Probably a write off, especially if some of the frame is bent and distorted (as it is supposed to do to decellerate thecar more gradually to keep you from dying of internal bleeding).
