RichT4's guide linked to above by MJB73 shows the bare minimum needed to get an aftermarket head unit working (+VE, -VE, Ignition Switched +VE). For completeness here's the rest

Unused - MOBILE PHONE MUTE (Connect to -VE to silence radio)
Red/Black - dimming control
Green - SPEED SIGNAL FROM ECU (Used in diagnostic mode to check the speedo accuracy, and in advanced-user mode for speed-adjusted volume control)
Yellow/White - dimming control
Brown/White - IGNITION SWITCHED POSITIVE
Thick Orange - BATTERY POSITIVE

non clip side
End - Black. NEGATIVE
Unused
unused
Red - ANTENNA POWER
Black - NEGATIVE/ GROUND
Unused
so the yellow and white dim all the dashboard

I'd imagine it would just dim the radio,as the dashboard dims on the instrument panel were the headlight switch is.

Check the relays under dash steering wheel side. Maybe you shorted something.

Stormy - Can I suggest you post a picture of your wiring? Might help us look further into things. Sounds like more than one connector been cut up!

It sounds to me like your car has been in a scrapyard for a while then removed from it and put back on the road. Who the hell cuts plugs off the loom on a car anywhere else but a scrappies?

Seriously, get your V5 copy, and check the VIN matches the chassis you have.

More would be missing!

People who have a low budget or no love for details would do this
